Friday, February 10, 2017 the Shinnston Senior Citizens celebrated Valentines Day at the American Legion building. Janet Dotson called the meeting to order.
We sang our national anthem and pledged allegiance to our flag. Elaine Veltri had our devotions. On our prayer list are Brenda Nestor, Pauline Reed, Jo Smith, Darrin Powell, Janet Dotson, Tom Greaver, Matthew Smith’s wife, Mary May Brook, Kim Andrick, Bernard Jones, Tom Claypoole, everyone else with the crud going around, our president, leaders, country, family, friends and everyone around the world. We cannot pray too much for each other.
We had no new or old business this week. We did sing Happy Birthday to Libby Butcher (who received a yellow rose) and Margaret Yost. We have five lovely ladies having birthdays this month … just one more to celebrate. The cookie exchange took place with 14 participating. The cookies were real nice. Also the chenille art took place again. The heart winners were Sylvia, Karen and Nancy. Some of us colored Valentine pictures and received a token prize for that. Things were very nice.
The blessing was asked by Stanley over our meal and the ones on our prayer list. Margaret and Nancy was our kitchen crew. We had spaghetti and meatballs, texas toast and a lot of other tasty covered dishes. Thanks guys for everything. We had a valentine sheet cake that Tom picked up for us and it was very good. Next week Libby will be in the kitchen if possible. To celebrate Presidents Day, we will have cherry pies.
Paul Shaver was our coverall bingo winner (long time coming for him). Tom Greaver was the 50/50 drawing winner and guess jar winner was Karen Flanigan. Everyone received treat bags and nut cups for our door prizes … these also were very nice. Thanks Janet for doing that for all of us.
Members attending were Tom Greaver, Stanley McIntire, Jean Hornick, Paul Shaver, Mary Stutler, Joan Whiteman, Karen Flanigan, William and Navonda Hayhurst, Enith Wright, Judy Asel, Richard Murray, Joyce and Steve Miker, Vivian Brown, Margaret Yost, Deloris Minor, Libby Butcher, Nannette Hixon, Nancy Davis, Elaine and Louie Veltri, Donna Yelich, Connie Perkins, Sylvia Duckworth, Billie Allen and Janet Dotson.
Thought for the week: Proverbs 5:21 ” For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.” We cannot hide from God. He sees everything we do and hears everything we say and he reads our minds. He knows it all. Remember that every day of your life and live accordingly. See you next week!
