The Shinnston Senior Citizens held their weekly meeting Feb. 17, 2017 with the following members present. Steve and Joyce Miker, Richard Murray, Judy Asel, Bette Baughman, Enith Wright, Janet Dotson, Billie Allen, Sylvia Duckworth, Donna Yelich, William and Navonda Hayhurst, Karen Flanigan, Pauline Reed, Joan Whiteman, Mary Stutler, Paul Shaver, Jean Hornick, Elaine and Louie Veltri, Jo Smith, Stanley McIntire, Tom Greaver, Margaret Yost, Deloris Minor, Libby Butcher, Nannette Hixon, and Nancy Davis.

The meeting was called to order by our president, Janet. We pledged our allegiance to the flag and sang our national anthem. Elaine had our devotional with a reading called Gifts.  People on our prayer list this week are Brenda Nestor, Patsy Benson,  Debbie Cline, Dorothy Goff, the Freeman family, Jo Smith, Pauline Reed, Janet’s Grandson’s wife, all those ill or in pain or any kind, especially our president and country, all leaders here and abroad, family, friends and all of mankind.

No business of any kind this past week.  We were given small treat boxes of candy.  Joyce Miker had a nice picture of Abraham Lincoln for President’s Day and told a little about it.

The kitchen crew for the week was Libby, Nancy, Nanette and Jean. Stanley said the blessing over the food. We had chicken and a lot of delicious covered dishes.  So much that even I said we needed bigger plates just to get a teaspoon full of everything to be able to taste it … cherry pie and ice cream was our dessert. You can’t beat that!  Thanks kitchen crew and members for a great meal and fellowship. The hostess for next week will be Navonda.  Our cake bakers will be Richard, Bette and Mary.

Enith Wright was our lucky bingo coverall winner;  Elaine Veltri won the 50/50 drawing; guess jars – Sylvia, Tom and Billie and our 1st door prize was won by Stanley. Good Luck everyone next week.  We are still accepting memberships and the cost is   $8.00 for the year and a chance to meet new friends and have fun and fellowship as well. A deal I would say.

Our thought for the week  –  Psalm 106:1 “Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.”  Our weather has been beautiful for February.  He has seen fit to give us the nice weather, the least we can do is thank him for it and everything he has given us which is everything that we have.   See you next week, LORD willing.
