he Shinnston Turkey Trot was a great success once again! Almost 800 registered participants came out to start their holiday season in Shinnston.
For the 6th straight year David McCollum, 35, of Bridgeport won with a time of 16:44. Second place was a tie with Michael Duez, 17, and Charlie Edward, 33, both of Bridgeport, with a time of 18:02.
The female winners were Emma Harrison, 19, of Buckhannon with a time of 20:26; Emily Lauk, 14, of Jane Lew with a time of 21:13; and Shinnston native Julie Manuel, 30, now of Lexington, NC with a time of 21:28.
This year’s largest and fastest team was Bridgeport XC with Jewel City Church right at their heels, followed by Team Spartacus. Best team name was team “I Thought You Said Rum”!
Turkey Trot organizers wish to thank all of their sponsors, donors, volunteers, participants, and the City of Shinnston for hosting this annual event which keeps growing each year.

Pictured above, participants crowd the starting line for Shinnston’s annual Turkey Trot. Perhaps they feel better about “gobbling” their holiday feast after running the 5K!
