The Blue & Gray Reunion will provide a host of entertainment including a variety of music, vendors, crafters, and artisans. The Chili Cook-Off will host its popular “Silent Auction” and “Hot Pepper Eating Contest” sponsored by Jaws BBQ, as well.  The day will end with a concert by “Full Cirkle” at 9 pm.

The public can taste and vote on the “People’s Choice Chili” beginning at 1 pm. Cooks are asked to bring their “People’s Choice Chili” already prepared to the Cook-Off so the public can sample that chili throughout the day.  The Competition Chili will be prepared at the Cook-Off. At 3 pm chili judging and tasting of the Competition Chili will begin.

First, second and third place cash prizes will be awarded to the Chili Cook-Off winners. First place will receive $500, second place will receive $300 and third place will receive $200.  The “People’s Choice” Chili winner that collects the most money for their chili will win half of the money collected during the People’s Choice voting. There are also several other fun contests for the cooks to participate in such as Best Chili Name, Best Decorated Booth, Best Dressed Cooks and Most Atomic.

Applications with guidelines for the Cook-Off can be obtained at City Hall.

If you are interested in cooking chili and would like to register, need more information about the events or would like to volunteer please contact the Philippi Main Street office at 304-457-3700, extension 226.
