The Stonewood CEOS club met at the Congregational Missionary Church fellowship hall. Members were welcomed by President Ladonna Tucker. Present were: Ladonna Tucker, Deloris Wilson, Estella Farnsworth, Pam Cowdry, Sherry Blue, Lesita Snider, Eva Summers, April Stout and Willa Jean Green.

Devotions entitled Patience of Hope were read by Willa Jean Green; she also led the members in the American, WV flag salutes, and the song God Bless America. The lesson today was taught by Willa Jean Green entitled Home grown: WV made products We Love. Some of the products of WV include Fiesta Tableware which originated from the Ohio River Valley in 1871, Blenko Glass Company in Milton WV renowned for its hand blown glass, more recently there is the Folk Coffee Company located in Buckhannon, Loving WV, a fan favorite for WV clothing and apparel, Pure Maple syrup made by Kelly’s in Tucker County, and Those Shoes located in Weston. She stressed to us to remember to shop local. She brought several items originating WV including McNichol china made in Stonewood, and McLaughlin China made in Wheeling.

The Clarksburg Classical Academy invited members to participate in the celebrating of “Read Across America Week” by having members read to students. Deloris Wilson, April Stout, and Estella Farnsworth participated; it was very enjoyable; the students were interactive and enjoyed the activity very much; we hope to read to them again in the future. Also this month we donated 35 lap quilts to Amedisys Hospice. The club has plans to donate Craft Supplies to the Classical Academy in the coming weeks.

Willa Jean Green, Health motivator discussed different types of nuts. Peanuts for instance, grow in the ground as opposed to Walnuts, Almonds, and Cashews to name a few; grow on trees. Many people have nut allergies, particularly peanuts. She also lead the group in Arm and leg exercises. A book report was given by Deloris Wilson entitled The Scent of Cherry Blossoms by Cindy Woodsmall about the cultural differences of Mennonite and Amish. She said she enjoyed the story.

Members were encouraged to bring items for heritage and show and share to our monthly meetings. Today Deloris shared a 1929 Vintage flour sifter with wooden handles which sold for 0.25 to 0.75 in 1940. The factory was in Cincinnati Ohio in 1819, but moved to Indiana in 1923. The price was $19.99 by mid century. Her sifter was still in very good condition. Eva brought a 1921 WI yearbook; Ladonna shared her grandfather’s Sunday School music book, and for show and share; Pam brought Memory photo books made for her by her children that tell a story of family.

We collected 18 jars of jelly and 2 jars of peanut butter for Mustard Seed donation; next month donation will be Ramen Noodles.

CVH this month were 724…Books read 23 with 1 from the book list.

The meeting was adjourned; next meeting will be April 21 2025. Since we are finally having some warm weather; I hope we all get out and enjoy the sunshine… maybe even take a walk.

On March 25th 2025, the Stonewood CEOS donated
craft supplies to the Clarksburg Classical Academy.
