Summer Bocce League games conclude

The late Summer Bocce League games ended on Thursday, Sept. 22. The top team consisted of Rudy Durci, Stanley Gaston, Dave Greaver, and Gary Pastoral.

Ending in second place was the squad of Katie Alvaro, Dave DeCosta, Marsha Duckworth, and Pam Gemondo.

The third-place finishers were the foursome of Lou Belcastro, Tony DiDomenico, Mona Sims, and Jeff Swiger, plus valuable substitute Joe Skelley.

On Saturday, Aug. 24, the annual Italian Heritage Tourney was played.

First-place winners were Mary Jo Bastin, John and Vinny DeMarco, plus Christy Hittel.

Placing second was the team of Josh Bastin, Marsha Duckworth, Josh Shaw, and Danny Summers.

Finishing third was the foursome of Lou Belcastro, Lou Del Rio, Tony Rossi, and Willard West.

On Saturday, Aug. 10, the Two-Man Tourney took place. Danny Summers and Willard West captured the title edging out the defending champs, Lou Belcastro and Lou Del Rio. Ending in third were Dave DeCosta and Jeff Swiger.

Also, on Saturday, Sept. 24, the One-On-One Tourney was held to round out the season completely. The winner was Lou Belcastro who just celebrated his 92nd birthday. Drew Bates was second followed by Willard West in third.

All games were played at the Ferguson City Park bocce courts in East Shinnston.

Next May, we will resume with the Spring League to be followed by the Summer League. After that, the tournaments will begin!
