WOW! Now this is impressive! The Greenbrier, the historic destination resort set in the foothills of West Virginia’s Allegheny Mountains, has unveiled a holiday-themed chocolate display made up of over 1,000 pounds of chocolate, donated by Cacao Barry, to commemorate the festive season this year.
The display was constructed by the resort’s Executive Pastry Chef Jean-Francois Suteau and his pastry team and took three months to complete.
Chef Suteau is an expert in his field, having been named the U.S. Chocolate Master at the World Chocolate Masters competition in 2013 as well as one of the “Top 10 Pastry Chefs in the United States” by Dessert Professional Magazine in 2011. As Executive Pastry Chef at The Greenbrier, he oversees all desserts for the resort’s 14 restaurants, cafes and lounges, in addition to 24-hour in-room dining.
The Greenbrier is known for its annual “60 Days of Holiday Cheer” (from November through New Year’s) which encompasses activities and events for guests and visitors such as weekly tree lightings, meet and greets with Mrs. Claus at the Christmas Shop, gift-wrapping seminars, holiday culinary demonstrations, ice skating, photographs with Santa Claus, The Nutcracker Ballet, a Christmas Eve Wine Tasting, a Christmas Eve Gingerbread Ball, WVU Puppet Mobile Christmas Show, a New Year’s Eve Gala, New Year’s Day Brunch, and more. The Greenbrier also holds an annual “Dream Tree for Kids” holiday gift drive, which aims to donate more than $1 million in toys and clothes to local and national charities in 2014.
It is obvious that celebrating the holiday season is NOT overlooked at The Greenbrier. Imagine planning 60 days packed full of activities! And for chocoholics … well, it appears to be a dream come true!

Pictured here are some of the chocolate creations prepared by Jean-Francois Suteau, Executive Pastry Chef at The Greenbrier … packages, reindeer, even a life-sized toy soldier!
