You’re likely to see lots of familiar characters come to life aboard the Polar Express – Santa Claus, elves, and yes, even marching toy soldiers!

The Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad will begin service to the North Pole onboard THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride starting November 5, 2014. The magical story comes to life when the train departs Elkins Railroad Depot for a 1 hour and 25 minute-round-trip journey to the North Pole.
Set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, passengers will relive the magic of the story as they are whisked away on THE POLAR EXPRESS™. Once onboard, hot chocolate and treats are served as passengers read along with the classic children’s book, The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsburg. Santa and his helpers greet passengers at the North Pole and then board the train, where each child is given the first gift of Christmas – a silver sleigh bell. Chefs aboard each car lead passengers in singing Christmas carols on the ride back to Elkins.
The journey begins November 5 and runs through December 14 on select dates. Exact dates, fares and excursion times are available by calling 1-877-686-7245, or by visiting www.mountainrail.com. Ticket prices for children under 12 range from $49 and for adults from $55. Families are encouraged to wear their pajamas for the ride!
This pre-holiday excursion has become so very popular with young and old alike in recent years that it is advisable to book well in advance! Check the website for available openings.
