Thomas “Tom” E. McIntire of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the age of 66. Born during a snowy day, October 28, 1957, to proud parents Walter and Betty McIntire of Worthington, West Virginia.

Tom was a proud graduate of Mannington High School, class of 1975. He furthered his education at Fairmont State College, followed by West Virginia University, and ultimately to Cooley Law School.

After law school, Tom planted his roots in Wheeling, where he was warmly embraced by the community, forming bonds that would last a lifetime. The acceptance and support he received from the people of West Virginia, were not taken for granted; they were treasures he counted among his many blessings.

Tom shared his father, Walt’s, wit. Like his dad, when asked about retirement, Tom would quip with a chuckle, “I don’t know, but it will be in the newspaper.” True to his word, he has retired from the practice of law.

Tom will be remembered as a confidant, and a friend. His sense of justice was paralleled by his compassion for others. Tom’s life, although cut short, was measured not in years but in the countless lives he touched, the communities he served, and the love he spread with a ready smile, a funny (true) story and a hearty laugh.

He leaves behind a network of family, colleagues, and friends. Preceded in death by his father Walter, Tom is survived by his mother Betty and his beloved and devoted longterm girlfriend, Kimberly Horner.

In keeping with Tom’s sense of humor and his father’s legacy, his personal announcement of retirement is indeed in the newspaper, as he would have wanted.

As we bid farewell to Tom McIntire, we reflect on a life well lived.

There will be no public services. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.perinefunerals.com. The Perine Funeral Home is honored to serve the McIntire family.
