PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania – The Tigers were back in action today playing on the second night of a back-to-back. This time they traveled to Pittsburgh to take on the Point Park University Pioneers. The Tigers early season struggles continued tonight falling 3-0 to the Pioneers on their home court.

The first set was all Pioneers from the start as they jumped out to a 7 – 0 lead against the Tigers. Point Park showed no signs of slowing up, keeping their foot on the gas pedal the entire first set and coming away with a win 25 – 16.

In the second set the Tigers looked to bounce back the same way they did on Tuesday against the Pioneers from Glenville after going down 1-0. They were able to strike first, but the Pioneers quickly answered back with a 4-0 run to silence the Tigers. The set remained tight as both teams stuck together until the score reached 11-12 in favor of Point Park. The Pioneers proceeded to go on an 8-3 run to go up 20 – 14. Salem tried to start a run of their own but could not get anything going in the end falling 25 – 15.

The Pioneers continued the trend of starting hot and getting ahead early in the set, establishing a 6 point lead before the Tigers were able to strike pay dirt. The Tigers picked up their play through the remainder of the set, but they continually got killed by back to back points. It seemed like every time Salem would score Point Park was able to respond with 2 of their own. In the end the Pioneers proved too much to handle on their home court winning the final set 25 – 14 and the match 3-0.
