Bridgeport, WV—Congratulations to Zachariah M. Thomas, MD for being recognized as
one of The State Journal’s Generation Next: 40 under 40. The annual distinction has
been given to a class of the Mountain State’s finest for the past 19 years. He represents
the state’s spirit of hard work, teamwork, and assisting others.
Dr. Thomas is a hospitalist at United Hospital Center (UHC), with more than 10 years of
experience. He studied at West Virginia University, earning a Bachelor of Science
degree in biology, before going on to WVU’s School of Medicine, where he graduated
with honors. Board certified in internal medicine; he is also a member of the American
College of Physicians.
Dr. Thomas has been involved in various activities, both in the medical field and the
community. He was a preceptor teaching medical students; chief resident council while
in medical school, acting as liaison between residents and chief residents; volunteering
as medical director at a camp for diabetic children in West Virginia; and serving in a
family medicine externship at WVU.
Presently, in addition to his hospitalist duties, Dr. Thomas is secretary of the UHC
Medical Staff and sits on both the credentialing and medical executive committees.
