Bridgeport, WV—Congratulations to Zachariah M. Thomas, MD for being recognized as

one of The State Journal’s Generation Next: 40 under 40. The annual distinction has

been given to a class of the Mountain State’s finest for the past 19 years. He represents

the state’s spirit of hard work, teamwork, and assisting others.

Dr. Thomas is a hospitalist at United Hospital Center (UHC), with more than 10 years of

degree in biology, before going on to WVU’s School of Medicine, where he graduated

with honors. Board certified in internal medicine; he is also a member of the American

College of Physicians.

Dr. Thomas has been involved in various activities, both in the medical field and the

community. He was a preceptor teaching medical students; chief resident council while

in medical school, acting as liaison between residents and chief residents; volunteering

as medical director at a camp for diabetic children in West Virginia; and serving in a

family medicine externship at WVU.

Presently, in addition to his hospitalist duties, Dr. Thomas is secretary of the UHC
