For the last several months, WV Secretary of State Kris Warner has traveled throughout the state and worked closely with state legislators to discuss the lack of affordable daycare for children of working parents.
As the former Executive Director of the WV Economic Development Authority, Secretary Warner has made the case that childcare is a critical component to successful economic development. Legislators in both the WV State Senate and the WV House of Delegates listened and responded to Warner’s advice.
Working with the WV Association for Young Children and daycare center operators, Secretary Warner helped to encourage the passage landmark bipartisan legislation to help support West Virginia’s daycare centers and to encourage the creation of more childcare options for working parents. House Bill No. 4191 passed on April 2nd.
On Wednesday, April 29, Secretary Warner visited Bridgeport to participate in a legislative reception for local legislators to thank them for their support of HB 4191.
The reception was held at Cubby’s Child Care Center located at 801 Genesis Boulevard in Bridgeport. The legislative reception was held from 2:00pm until 3:00pm. Legislators from the region were invited and several have confirmed their attendance.
