MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Hospital in Morgantown and WVU Medicine United Hospital Center in Bridgeport have been named to Newsweek’s 2026 list of “America’s Best Maternity Hospitals.”
“This recognition shows our commitment to providing high-quality care and improving the experience for the patients and families we serve,” Michael A. Grace, Ed.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.H.E., president and CEO of WVU Hospitals and senior vice president and COO of the WVU Health System, said. “We are proud of our physicians, advanced practice providers, and care team members who provide a high-quality, patient-centered experience each day.”
The rankings are based on three data sources: a nationwide online survey of hospital managers and maternity health care professionals, including neonatal providers and OB-GYNs; medical key performance indicator data; and patient satisfaction scores.
“Being named one of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals for 2026 confirms that our labor and delivery teams provide top-tier care that rivals any in the nation,” David F. Hess, M.D., president and CEO of United Hospital Center and central region president for the WVU Health System, said.
“This award is a direct reflection of the dedication, skill, and compassion of our doctors, nurses, and staff who work diligently to ensure the best possible outcomes for mothers and babies in North Central West Virginia.”
