A $1,000.00 check was presented to Matthew Lunsford a senior at Bridgeport High School towards his collage tuition at WVU where he will be majoring in music where he hopes to be a band director in the future.
The scholarship was for his application about his family heritage. An essay of 500 words along with a family tree that traced his ancestry back to being a great , great, great, relative to Stonewall Jackson.
The Genealogy Society has been presenting this scholarship for over a quarter of a century. In the last few years they have teamed up with the Clarksburg History Museum. Both organizations help interested people with ancestry research. The Museum is open Tuesday – Saturday from 10-4pm.
