The Progressive Women’s Association of Harrison County has announced that The Women or Distinction awards luncheon will be held on Friday, June 6 at noon at theUptown Event Center. The Awards program was initiated ten years ago and has continued three times every year. The program is held in February, June and October. Rosalyn Queen, chairman of the event says that the program continues to uphold the mission of the PWA by empowering women. Its mission is to,honor those women who volunteer in the community to make Harrison County a better place to live. Volunteerism happens on every stage of our lives and is important to the success of our lifestyle. This is our way of calling attention to their efforts and saying publicly thank,you.
Delivering the keynote address will be Susan Riddle. Riddle will speak about her involvement in tourism and the impact volunteerism has to its success.
Susan Riddle has been the President and CEO of Visit Mountaineer Country Convention and Visitors Bureau since 2016. Under her leadership, the CVB has grown into the region’s premier Destination Management & Marketing Organization (DMMO) that represents Monongalia, Preston, Taylor, and the Town of Belington in Barbour County, within the 7 county Mountaineer Country Tourism Region.
An advocate for West Virginia tourism and a leader in the industry, Susan has the honor of serving on the Governor’s West Virginia Tourism Advisory Council and WVU’s Hospitality Advisory Council. She is a member of the WV Hospitality and Travel Association, Destination International, and Treasurer of the WV Association of CVBs.
Susan is also an active member of her community involved with several organizations working to make the Mountaineer Tourism Region the best in the state of West Virginia. She presently serves as Treasurer of the Mountaineer Trail Network Recreational Authority, Treasurer of the Arts Council of Greater Morgantown, and Treasurer of the Mylan Park Foundation.
A graduate of WVU, Susan’s career has involved leadership roles in healthcare, real estate property management and development, financial services, and hotel and restaurant management. Her education and experience have prepared her well for her role at VMCCVB.
Susan and Kelly, her husband of 39 years, have raised three terrific adult children – Amanda, Tyler, & Sarah and now have four wonderful grandbabies Iris, Ace, Opal, and Olen. Susan, a West Virginian by choice, is always willing to share what makes Mountaineer Country very special and the place she has been blessed to call home for more than forty years.
