Gary Hartley, 73, of Bridgeport, passed away on September 16, 2024. He was born on July 27, 1951, in Clarksburg, a son to the late Henry Hartley and Dorthea Bice Hartley. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Deborah “Debbie” Bunnell.
He is survived by his wife of over 44 years, Karen (Newbrough) Hartley, whom he married on April 4, 1980. Also surviving are his children, daughter Sara (Jason) Mike of Bridgeport, Adam Hartley of Bridgeport, and stepson Stacy Freeman of Clarksburg; grandchildren Austin Freeman and companion Lindy Stemple of Adamsville, Gauge Freeman and companion Oloalilo-Tumua Perreira of Grand View, MO, Isaiah “Petey” Freeman of Adamsville, and Lilly Mike and Addison Mike, both of Bridgeport; great-granddaughter Leilana Freeman; and brothers Ronald “Putt” (Anne) Hartley of Bridgeport, and Randy (Barbara) Hartley of Shinnston.
Gary was previously employed by Erwin Supply Shinnston, Svedala, Fairmont Supply, and Applied Industrial Supply. He was a member of the Shinnston Church of Christ, and retired member of the Shinnston Volunteer Fire Dept.
Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 2:00PM-8:00PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, on Monday September 23, 2024 at 11:00AM with Evangelist Jesse Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
