Lois Pauline Ogden Osbourn Hammon

Lois Pauline Ogden Osbourn Hammon, 99, of Shinnston and most recently a resident of Maplewood Health Care, Bridgeport, WV entered into her eternal rest on September 19, 2024. She was born July 18, 1925 in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Ira and Ila Ogden. She was preceded in death by husbands Warren E. Osbourn and Hershel Jack Hammon and good friend Harold McQuain. Also, preceding her in death were sisters Iolene Silski and Irma Stout and son-in-law John Neel.

She is survived by her children Joyce A. Neel, Lawton, OK, Rodney (Linda) Osbourn, Jeffrey (Linda) Osbourn, Matt (Mary) Osbourn all of Shinnston, 6 grandchildren Lisa (Mike) Rawlings, Wesley (Kaitlin) Osbourn, Mitchell (Maria) Osbourn, Kari (Matt) Sickles, Joshua (Amberly) Osbourn and Janna Osbourn, 8 great-grandchildren Brianna Rawlings, Carson and Kinsley Osbourn, Brynn Sickles, Avery, Addison and Alexa Osbourn and Amelia Osbourn.

Pauline grew up on Cunningham Run where she attended Wyatt Elementary School, Lumberport Jr. High, and graduated from Shinnston High School. She was the bookkeeper for the family business, P & W Feed and Hardware Store in Shinnston. Following the death of her first husband, Warren, she worked at the Shinnston State Food Store and later was employed by the WV State Police Headquarters as radio dispatcher for Shinnston Detachment Co. A for 17 years until her retirement in 1987. After her retirement, she spent countless hours watching her grandchildren, which provided her much joy.  Also, she enjoyed helping her longtime friend, Harold on his farm and accompanying him to many cattle sales.

Pauline enjoyed reading books, crocheting many afghans and doll outfits and sewing. She could sew and make just about anything! Pauline always cooked large, delicious, holiday meals, which were enjoyed by her entire family. She was a long-time member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church where she served as the financial secretary.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Dubberke, WVU Medicine Home Health, the nurses and staff of Maplewood Health Care and United Hospital Center for the quality and compassionate care provided to her.

Friends and family will at Harmer Funeral Home on Saturday, September 21,2024 from 10:00 – 1:00 with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
