Meals WILL Be Served 8am-1pm

The Harrison County Senior Citizens Center made the following announcement after our publication had gone to press last week.  In an effort to be proactive in the movement to slow any potential spread of COVID-19 among its senior members and visitors, the facility has shortened its hours of operation and they encourage seniors to stay at home as much as possible.

The Center will, however, be open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. for breakfast and lunch service ONLY.  The following essential senior services will continue: breakfast and lunch service with altered seating arrangements to allow additional space between members; transportation services to transport seniors to appointments and to obtain supplies; Senior Food Box Program distribution; and In-Home Care Services.

For the next two weeks, the following services will be SUSPENDED and suspension may possibly be extended depending on the circumstances:  Ceramics Classes, Exercise & Line Dancing Classes, Tai Chi, Bingocize, Toning, etc.; Fitness Room; Puzzle/TV Room; Bingo Fun Club; Friday Lunch Bingo; Book Club; Card & Board Games in the Cafe; and any group meetings.

In addition, AARP has suspended all income tax assistance until further notice.

During this time period, the HCSC Board and Committee Meetings will be conducted via telephone conference call.

Staff will be available by phone during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Please call 304-623-6795 if you have any questions.
