James “Jimmy” Heflin, II Obituary

James “Jimmy” Franklin Heflin, II, 41 of Haywood, passed away suddenly on January 10, 2025 at United Hospital Center.  He was born in Fairmont on June 23, 1983 to Paula Rose (Minniti) Heflin and the late James Franklin Heflin.

Jimmy worked for Walter Lewis & Sons as a lathe operator.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved his dogs.

He is survived by his mother, Paula Heflin of Haywood; companion, April Feathers of Worthington; one son, James Franklin Heflin, III; one brother, CJ Carmine Heflin and wife Jennifer of Shinnston; maternal grandmother, Theresa “Mamaw” Sandora Hupp and husband Keeney of Madison, OH; three uncles:  Arless Heflin and Tom Tomer of NC; John Heflin and wife Eileen of Sumter, SC and Danny Heflin and wife Tammie of Clarksburg; one aunt, Mary Jo Thompson of Painesville, OH; two nephews:  Cole J. and Cade Z. Heflin and one niece, Jailee Heflin. 

In addition to his dad, Jimmy is preceded in death by one infant brother, paternal grandparents, William Heflin and June Heflin and husband William “Bill” McClain; maternal grandfather, James Minniti; great grandmother, Pauline “Nana” Sandora and one aunt, Mary Lou Jacques and husband Morris.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on Dorsey Funeral Home website to help the family with expenses.

Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 10:00am until the time of service, 12:00pm with Pastor Jeff Dytzel officiating. Interment to follow to Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.

Maxine Helen Kearns, 95, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Lumberport, passed away at her residence on January 14, 2025.  She was born on April 3, 1929 in Oakland, MD to the late Howard Ross Pigott and Bertha Ann (Kitzmiller) Pigott.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan Smith and husband Robert of Charlotte, NC; one granddaughter, Kimberly Sue Letourneau and husband Darrell; one great grandson, Sloane Robert Letourneau of Charlotte, NC and one brother, Robert Pigott and wife Bernadine of Fairmont.

In addition to her parents, Maxine is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Paul Kearns; two brothers:  Preston Junior Kitzmiller and Howard Pigott and one sister, Josephine Harvey.

Maxine was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness in both the Clarksburg, WV and Charlotte, NC congregations.

Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 11:00am until time of service, 1:00pm with Elder Larry Hathaway officiating.  Interment at Lumberport Lions Cemetery.

Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements for the Kearns family.
