Michael Eugene Skinner, 53, of Meadowbrook, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 at UHC in Bridgeport. He was born on July 30, 1971, in Fairmont, to Jesse and Cheryl Skinner of Meadowbrook.

Mike was a 1989 graduate of Lincoln High School in Shinnston. He joined the Army Reserves during his senior year of high school, and also entered the work force with employment at McDonald’s. Following bootcamp training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Mike attended Fairmont State College. He left college to take a job as a supervisor at Winfield in Clarksburg. Eventually, he left Winfield to take a position with Corhart Refractories in Buckhannon.

Mike loved reading various genres of books, watching historical documentaries, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He enjoyed spending time with his family camping at Big Bear Lake in Preston County, where he participated in golf cart poker runs, competing in horseshoes, and fishing at the Big Lake. He liked trout fishing in the mountains with his sons and daughter. He was an avid Mountaineer’s and Steeler’s fan, who enjoyed watching the football games with his dad.

In addition to his parents, Mike is survived by his loving and caring wife of 29 years, Virginia (Roach) Skinner. He is also survived by two sons, Michael (Mikey) Skinner, and Yancy Skinner and companion Allie Orloff; two daughters, Amanda Elder and Hannah Skinner; and five grandchildren, Cody, Waylon, Sarah, Madelyn (Maddie) Skinner, and Delilah (Lilah) Jones.

Mike also leaves behind a sister to cherish his memory, Michelle (Shawn) Cunningham of Salem; a special nephew Cameron Cunningham; special niece Sydney Cunningham; two brothers-in-law Donald and Charles Roach, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Malven and Goldie Campbell, and paternal grandparents, Clifford (Ray) and Betty Skinner.

Family and friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 5:00PM-8:00PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 11:00AM with Pastor Jeffrey Dytzel officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
