Michael Ray Swiger “Mike”

Michael Ray Swiger “Mike”, 77, peacefully passed away on January 30, 2025 in Bridgeport, W.V. surrounded by his loved ones.

Mike was born in Wallace, West Virginia on April 24, 1947. He was a 1965 graduate of Lumberport High School, where he achieved All-State football honors for three consecutive years. Upon his graduation, Mike proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his service, Mike graduated from Salem College with a B.S. Degree in Education. Mike worked at Union Carbide, Ingersoll Rand, Fourco, Joy Manufacturing in Charlotte, N.C., and retired from Precision Coil.

Mike was a devoted-family man and enjoyed spending time with his many friends, hunting, fishing, and cheering on the West Virginia University Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Edna Davis Swiger; his daughter, Michelle Swiger Riggs, and husband Dan Riggs; and two grandchildren, Carrington Riggs Marks (Tyler Marks) and Chase Riggs. He is also survived by his sister Lula Davis, brother-in-laws Tex Bates and Jon Casten, sister-in-laws Judy Swiger Gorden, Sheryl Swiger, and Carol Kisner, and several nieces and nephews. His family will continue to miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by parents Audie and Juanita Swiger; his sisters Maxine Bates, Sandra Casten, and Beverly Ann Swiger; his brother Brad Swiger; and brother-in-law Gayle Davis.

Family and friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a prayer vigil at 7:30 P.M. A funeral service to honor Mike’s life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with family friend John Board officiating.

Mike will be forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
