Thomas Earl Shingleton, 88, of Spelter, passed away on January 26, 2025. He was born on September 24, 1936, in Enterprise, a son to the late Okey Shingleton and Myrtle Elizabeth Hartzell Shingleton. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Helen Lavone Saporita and Barbara Helms, and brother Delbert Lee (Joe Bill) Shingleton.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene Sue (Patterson) Shingleton, whom he married on November 25, 1957; son Thomas Earl (TJ) Shingleton Jr. and wife Johnna and grandchildren Kelsey Wilson and husband Gabe, Carley and Camryn Shingleton; great-grandchildren Emerson and Knox; daughter Janene McCarty and husband Pat, and grandchildren Coty Shingleton and wife Leah, Abby Rader and husband Justin, Maggy McCarty and Lilly McCarty, and great-grandchild Sawyer; and several nieces and nephews.
Thomas worked for the West Virginia Office of Miners Health Safety Administration for forty years as a mine inspector. He served in the Air Force in the early 1950’s. He was a member of the Harrison County Spelter Senior Satellite group. Thomas was Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 2:00PM-8:00PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 11:00AM with Pastor Robert Shingleton and Pastor Duane Bartrug officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
