Betty Waddy, president of the Progressive Women’s Association of Harrison County has announced that the PWA will be sponsoring a special program to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States.
For the last ten years the PWA has held a luncheon to recognize women who have volunteered in our community as a part of the Women of Distinction program presented by the PWA.The program has always been sponsored by the Davis Funeral Home.
This year, in conjunction with the 250th Celebration, they will be honoring several women who have served our country in the military. Sometimes we forget the women who have defended our country and who have given so much to make our country safe for all of us. They have volunteered and have worked alongside their male counterparts rendering service for all of us. It is our hope that this program will remind us of all the women who have served our country.
This special program will be held on Friday, June 26 at noon at the Uptown Event Center located on Washington Avenue. Arrangements have been made to have special military music.. plans are being made to secure a well known keynote speaker. Along with the Antero Award plaque other recognitions will be presented to the honorees.
This program is being planned in conjunction with the City of Clarksburg. Birthday Celebration.
A special lunch menu is being planned and will be served by the members and volunteers. Topping off the menu will be a birthday cake and a rendition of Happy Birthday To The United States will be sung.
This program is open to the public, but due to limited space it is recommended that reservations be made by calling 304 624 6441.
