Shellis Robinson, 90, of Lumberport, passed away on August 4, 2026, at at United Hospital Center. He was born in Brown, WV, on September 8, 1935 to the late Shelby Robinson and Ethel (McCullough) Robinson.
Shellis was a 1954 graduate of Wallace High School. He worked for Ace Hardware in the 50s and 60s in Bridgeport and then retired from Union Carbide with 20 years’ service.
He was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates, spending most of his life following them and the West Virginia Mountaineers. He often stated that the only thing that kept him in school and maintaining his grades was for the opportunity to play sports.
His children bought him several concert tickets over the years to go with his wife to see big name country music stars, and one of their special memories is hearing Dad sing around the house with his beautiful tenor voice to the radio and in church.
Some of his biggest passions were hunting, fishing and trapping wildlife. When he was a child during the depression, wildlife was scarce in the woods, though he still started at a young age hunting at night and during the day with his dog.
With seven children, Shellis was always adding on to his house, so once he retired, he was able to take that hobby for woodworking and build lasting pieces for his children and grandchildren.
In his final years, Shellis took to planting fruit orchards for his children to enjoy for years to come.
Most importantly, in 1971, Shellis met and married the love of his life and his soulmate, Patricia. The love that they had gave their family the perfect example of what marriage should look like and the deep faith that they both had in God, bonded them forever.
He is survived by four sons: Terry Robinson and wife Barbara of Mayflower, Ark., Steve Robinson and wife Anita of Lumberport, Dann Hardman of Morgantown, WV, and Patrick Robinson of Lumberport; two daughters: Sharon (Hardman) Pernell and husband Jerome of Bridgeport and Catherine Morgan and husband Don of Lumberport; four granddaughters: Deborah Robinson, Miranda Riffle, Carina Robinson and Shelby Pernell; six grandsons: Joey Robinson, Charles Nestor, Andrew Nestor, Matthew Harper, William Harper and Mack Pernell; seven great-granddaughters: Sarah, Sofia, Mia, Letty, Danielle, Tara and Shiloh; one sister, Lillian Crosby of Palm Beach, Fla.; one brother, Warren Robinson of Lumberport as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Shellis is preceded in death by his wife and soulmate, Patricia May (Aiello) Robinson; one daughter, Carol Robinson; two sisters: Esther Harbert and Martha Chase.
The family would like to thank so many at United Hospital Center for their excellent care. They went above and beyond for Shellis and his family, especially on 6 South and the critical care team.
